Looks like Mike Bloomberg is one step closer to announcing his presidential run. The former New York City mayor can now add former Republican and former Independent to his political affiliations.

Bloomberg officially returned to the Democrat party on Wednesday, saying, “we need Democrats to provide the checks and balance our nation so badly needs.”

While he hasn’t made any formal announcement yet, the move could place Bloomberg in a position to challenge President Trump in 2020.

The billionaire has supported Democrat causes as of recent, throwing money behind their abortion and gun policies.
