U.S. Customs and Border Protection found an interesting item inside the luggage of a traveler from Ecuador last week.

CBP’s K-9 unit includes a beagle that caught the smell of something odd inside this person’s luggage. It turned out to be a roasted pig.

CBP official Carey Davis explained the seizure of the pig. “Our best defense against destructive pests and animal diseases is to prevent the entry of prohibited agriculture products from entering the United States.”

Pork and other pork products from other continents are prohibited from entering the country to prevent potential diseases.
