For the First Time in History a Woman Will Lead U.S. Army’s Largest Command

Lt. Gen. Laura J. Richardson will now represent 776,000 soldiers and 96,000 civilians becoming the first woman to lead the Army’s largest command.

Gen. Robert B. Abrams is resigning his post to command the United States Armed Forces Korea.

“It has been an honor to serve these last three years as the commanding general, U.S. Army Forces Command,” Abrams said.

This latest accomplishment is just one of many Richardson has earned over her Army career starting back in 1986.
