Teens in Texas can’t graduate until watching video on police

In order to graduate from high school, Texas students now have to take a new class. The course teaches students how to properly cooperate with law enforcement during a traffic stop.

The Community Safety Education Act was put in place in the state after a spike in police officers fatally shooting unarmed citizens.

Sen. Royce West said, “I wanted to put something in place that would temper the expectations of police officers and citizens.”

The video is 16 minutes long and is part of the “Civilian Interaction Training Program”. It lays out certain guidelines and answers specific questions for students, new drivers and law enforcement.
