A Russian woman working for an oligarch with ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin has been indicted for attempting to meddle in the 2018 midterm election.

Elena A. Khusyaynova of St. Petersburg is charged with using social media to create a myriad of social media and e-mail accounts geared towards creating a divisive climate leading up to this year’s midterm elections.

Khusyaynova and her accounts hit topics such as gun control, gay rights, the women’s march and the NFL national anthem debate in the hopes of creating further division among the electorate.
