Pentagon No Longer Calling Border Deployment ‘Operation Faithful Patriot’

The Pentagon announced on Wednesday it would no longer refer to its border deployment as ‘Operation Faithful Patriot’.

The Pentagon did not give a reason for the name change, but some criticized the name for having ‘political overtones’, and Defense Secretary James Mattis was reportedly not a fan.

Recently, an additional 5,200 troops were deployed to the border to help stop a migrant caravan that is still hundreds of miles from the United States. President Trump has said he could increase that number as high as 15,000 if necessary.
