The Latest on the Borderline Bar Shooting

Shortly after 7 AM PT, police held their latest news conference surrounding the early morning shooting at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, California. 13 people have been confirmed dead. This includes the shooter and one sheriff’s deputy.

The shooter has been identified as 28-year-old Ian David Long. He is a former member of the United States Marines. Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean said the handgun used by the suspect in the shooting was purchased legally.

The officer killed in the shooting was Sheriff’s Sgt. Ron Helus. He was shot immediately upon entering the bar and died at a nearby hospital a short time later.
