New Northwest Suburban Police Station Damaged

(CHICAGO)  The brand new police station in Arlington Heights has been damaged and an out-of-state driver is in critical condition.

The northwest suburb just spent almost $30 million on a police station and authorities say, around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, a man from Georgia was speeding on Sigwalt Street when he lost control, the car flipped over and then came to rest near the station entrance.

The Chicago Tribune reports that officials were planning to host a grand opening event for the station later this month.

The crash is still under investigation.
