(CHICAGO) In the race for mayor,  State Comptroller Susana Mendoza has officially announced for mayor.

Mendoza waited a week since her re-election and then announced at sunrise in a feel-good video that nonetheless took a veiled shot at candidate Toni Preckwinkle.

“The job of mayor isn’t for a caretaker,” says Mendoza, “Every Chicagoan deserves a mayor who in every waking moment, every day asks herself one fundamental question: Did I do enough?”

Mendoza is a top-tier candidate for mayor because she is an energetic backer of Mike Madigan with name recognition from her crusade against Bruce Rauner and an effective fundraiser.
