The Majority and Minority leaders for the United States Senate were selected today by their respective parties.

Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell will remain the Senate Majority Leader. Meanwhile, New York Senator Chuck Schumer will continue to lead Democrats as the minority party in the Senate.

Senator John Cornyn, of Texas, will be stepping down as the No. 2 in the Senate because of a three-term limit. Senator John Thune of South Dakota will take over that role.
