President Donald Trump has released a lengthy statement today in which he defends the idea of continuing the business ties between the United States and Saudi Arabia despite a report that is likely to link a journalist’s death to the Saudi Crown Prince.

Trump says that Saudi Arabia has been a “great ally in our very important fight against Iran.”

The President also points to $450 billion being spent by the Saudis and the jobs that will mean for the United States as a rationale for looking past the crimes likely committed at the behest or under the knowledge of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
