Early voting brings an absurdity to April runoff elections

When they were writing the new early voting statute in Springfield, Jim Allen at the Chicago Board of Elections says they bungled into this.
“The law was a cut and paste with 40 days of early voting and technically if we were to follow that, we’d have to have early voting for the run off before people voted on February 26th, so it’s not gonna work.”
So here’s the plan.
“We wait. We postpone. We hope that the legislature changes that law and makes it right.”
Lawmakers are back in Springfield today but there’s no fix on the agenda because it’s a veto session.
