Preckwinkle challenges nominating petitions of Lightfoot and four other women

(CHICAGO)  There’s a new racial issue being raised over the petition challenges frontrunner Toni Preckwinkle has made.

You can’t win the mayor’s office without winning the black vote. Toni Preckwinkle has challenged the nominating petitions of five women of color, but not Willie Wilson.

Lori Lightfoot is one of those challenged.

“I’ve been in the corporate world for a long time and there aren’t a lot of people who look like me in that space. One of the things that I say to women is we can’t treat each other as an enemy. We can’t have the notion that I’m on board so pull up the ladder. And frankly, what she’s done absolutely speaks to that kind of perception that I’m good and I don’t want anyone else to follow in my path.”

Lightfoot said so at a news conference where she continued to insist Ald Ed Burke give up his power and perks because the FBI raided two of his offices.
