Special counsel Robert Mueller says Paul Manafort was secretly keeping in contact with the White House, which could end up costing the ex-Trump campaign manager his plea deal.

In a filing Friday, Mueller claimed that Manafort told investigators he had no communication with anyone in the Trump administration, when in fact he’d done so as recently as early 2018.

Last week, Mueller accused Manafort of lying “about a variety of subject matters” and said he could face new charges.

Manafort is currently behind bars awaiting sentencing in March.
