A New Jersey woman got her wedding ring back 9 years after accidentally flushing it down the toilet.

Paula Stanton was cleaning her bathroom almost a decade ago. The ring slipped off her finger. She thought it was gone for good.

By chance, a member of Somers Point, New Jersey’s Public Works had heard Stanton talk about the ring three years ago. Last month, Ted Gogol was doing manhole work 400 feet away from Stanton’s house. He saw a shiny object in the mud. It was the ring.

Stanton sanitized the ring by boiling it in peroxide and lemon juice. She is wearing it again.
