Mendoza: More neighborhood schools, more social services, more police detectives

By Bill Cameron, WLS-AM News

(CHICAGO) In the race for mayor, candidate Susana Mendoza is out with her approach to schools and public safety.

At the City Club, Mendoza promised a two-year moratorium on closing more schools, moving toward more neighborhood schools with many more social services in them and more police detectives.

With reporters afterward, she was vague about how she’d pay for this agenda.

“Well, we’re gonna do it over eight years, so we’re working on those financials, but I just don’t think we can afford not to do it.”

Mendoza also dinged Toni Preckwinkle by saying  it’s too early for any candidate to say they wouldn’t keep  police supt Eddie Johnson.
