(CHICAGO) The race for mayor and the saga of Alderman Ed Burke have converged. Mayoral candidate Toni Preckwinkle is giving up some of the money she’s gotten from the raided alderman.

Preckwinkle is giving up about $13,000 Burke has donated to her over the years. It apparently does not include the larger amount she got this year when Burke hosted a fundraiser for her.

Candidate Lori Lightfoot is not impressed.

“She took three weeks, three FBI raids before she said the first darn thing about Ed Burke. And now suddenly, because she’s been forced to take a position, now she’s got all this courage!”

Preckwinkle is donating the $13,000 to a couple of organizations supporting Latinos, who are the base of the campaigns of Gery Chico and Susana Mendoza.
