101st General Assembly sworn-in

(CHICAGO) In Springfield, the new General Assembly was inaugurated this afternoon and the 101st General Assembly sworn-in and the Democratic leaders had very different things to say about outgoing Gov Bruce Rauner.

Swearing-in Speaker Madigan was his daughter Lisa, the retiring Attorney General.

He said “people working with people” is the way forward because we didn’t get much of that the last four years from Gov Rauner.

“Four long years of character assassination! Four long years of personal villification! Four long years of strident negotiating positions, also know as my way or the highway.”

Rauner was presiding over in the senate chambers where President John Cullerton thanked him for his public service.

“We may have had our differences from time to time, but you took on a challenge when others merely complained from the sidelines. Thank you and I wish you and your family the best.”

On Monday, Governor-elect JB Pritzker takes the oath.
