Parked in front of stores and at major intersections in cities all over the U.S., Bird rental scooters may seem like easy pickings for thieves. But someone in Missouri went about it the hard way.
The University of Missouri reports 40 of the motorized scooters have gone missing from a campus storage facility, which was apparently broken into over winter break. The theft was discovered at 8 a.m. Wednesday, campus police say.
The university routinely picks up scooters that are left in unsafe areas or in front of handicap-accessible entrances, then takes them to the facility for the company to retrieve.
