(CHICAGO)  The partial shutdown of the federal government is continuing into its third week and it’s having a growing effect here in Chicagoland.

40,000 federal workers are in 40 agencies in the Chicago region.

Many of those not getting paid are feeling the pinch trying to pay the bills.

Sen Dick Durbin says it’s a mean thing Trump is doing to them.

“I’d have to say with all due respect to President Donald Trump, pick on somebody your own size! Stop picking on people living from paycheck to paycheck who are trying to serve this nation in important ways.”

But Trump claims some of the federal workers not getting paid support him holding out for his border wall.
