(CHICAGO) The 2020 Ford Explorer will be made at Chicago’s Ford plant on the South Side and Craig Patterson with Ford tells DriveChicago that this vehicle is new from the ground, up. “It’s the first time we’ve had a redesign since our 2011 model year.  It’s an all new rear wheel drive architecture.  So, what that will give the customers is more room on the inside, on-road a better ride and, importantly, a great appearance – really athletic appearance,” said Patterson.
JC Phelan stops by to tell us about the 2019 Chicago Auto Show’s “First Look For Charity” which supports 18 local charities. “We’re super excited. This is our 28th year.  In those 28 years, we’ve generated over $50M for our local charities.  Annually, it brings in about $2.5M and we’re hoping to have another record year,” said Phelan.
Jennifer Morand, who is in charge of social media for the Auto Show says they offer what amounts to a kind of backstage pass. “So, we really kick it off on our our media preview which is February 7th.  Fans can actually tune-in to Facebook, we will be streaming live videos from the show floor.  All of the manufacturer unveilings are coming through that event.  If you’re on Snapchat or Instagram we’re also going to be featuring some behind the scenes footage,” said Morand.
We review the Jeep Compass and have more auto trivia.
