Durbin says air traffic controllers are working six days a week

(CHICAGO) Illinois Sentaor Dick Durbin is talking up the effect of the shutdown on another category of Chicago area airport workers.

First it was the TSA screeners working without pay. Now Durbin turned up on the floor of the senate to talk up the plight of air traffic controllers working without pay, like Toby Hawk.

“Many air traffic controllers like Toby are working six days a week. I’m not happy to report that, pushing them to the limits of physical exhaustion isn’t in the best interest of safety for our aircraft.”

Durbin says there are 8,000 federal workers in Illinois who aren’t getting paid.
