U.S. Senator Rand Paul, R-KY, says the State of the Union should be delivered in the Senate Chamber if Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi doesn’t want to host the annual Presidential address.

“Senator McConnell is in charge of the Senate. If Mrs. Pelosi refuses to allow the president to deliver the State of the Union in the House, I propose we move it to the Senate and make it happen!” the Kentucky Republican tweeted.

Speaker Pelosi and the White House have gone back and forth in recent days with the Speaker suggesting that the State of the Union be postponed if the government remains shut down or be submitted in writing instead.

Earlier, the Executive Office denied military flight plans for a congressional delegation’s foreign trip just as the Speaker and other members of Congress were boarding a bus to the airfield.
