New Jersey to Become Fourth State to Offer Gender Neutral Birth Certificates

New Jersey officials have announced that the state will offer residents the choice of gender-neutral birth certificates.

The option, which will become available February 1st, will allow parents or guardians to choose “male”, “female” or “undesignated/non-binary” on a newborn’s birth certificate.

The law is named the Babs Siperstein Law and is named after the first transgendered person to serve on the Democratic National Committee who was also a lifelong New Jersey resident.
