Nightmare Scenario feared in city elections

By Bill Cameron, WLS-AM nEWS

(CHICAGO)  In the city elections, early voting in the neighborhoods began today, but Bill Cameron says election officials are fearing what they call “a nightmare scenario.”

The nightmare scenario would happen if the races for the runoffs for the top two candidates for mayor or aldermen are close between the second and third finishing candidates.

Jim Allen at the election board says “There’s literally no time for a discovery or a court battle or anything like that. The distance between second and third in a 38% turnout is gonna be much narrower than it would be in a 50% turnout.”

So far the polar vortex and the undecides have kept early voting low, but mail-in ballots are way up.
