Colin Kaepernick’s Name Kept off Black History Month Resolution by GOP Lawmakers

A resolution was passed Tuesday by the state Assembly in Wisconsin to recognize important black Americans for Black History Month.

The resolution hit a speed bump when GOP lawmakers wanted to keep former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s name out of the resolution.

Rep. David Crowley called the opposition to Kaepernick “a textbook example of white privilege” and a “slap in the face”.

A native of Milwaukee, Kaepernick was criticized in 2016 for kneeling during the national anthem to protest negative actions toward black Americans.

“Many of these people that you don’t agree with will still be in the history books that your children and grandchildren will be reading,” Crowley said.
