Now is the Time to Book a Trip to Hawaii

In the wake of Southwest Airlines’ bid for FAA clearance to add flights to Hawaii, other airlines are responding by dropping their prices to the tropical paradise.

As of Tuesday, round trip tickets for a nonstop flight to the Hawaiian islands were selling for as low as $358 — marking a nearly $200 drop in the average price. The lower fare is for flights leaving from and returning to California.

The reduction comes about a week after Southwest staged a test flight from Oakland to Hawaii in an effort to convince the FAA to approve its proposed nonstop service to the island cluster. If the airline gets the approval, it plans to start out with nonstop service from Oakland, San Diego, San Jose and Sacramento to four Hawaiian destinations.
