Ted Cruz may have just discovered a way to make everyone in Washington DC happy. Republicans could have the border wall and Democrats get to make sure the taxpayers don’t have to fund it.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, the Texas Senator again touted his “El Chapo Act,” which would seize the Mexican drug lord’s profits and put them toward border security.
Cruz first proposed the Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order Act in April 2017, but the idea reemerged after JoaquÃn Guzmán Loera, AKA El Chapo, was convicted in federal court.
Meanwhile, lawmakers have tentatively agreed to provide $1.4 billion for border security on Monday in the hopes of stopping another government shutdown over a funding impasse.
