J.D. Power Releases Survey on Vehicle Reliability

(CHICAGO)  A survey on vehicle dependability finds problems with battery failures, transmission shifting and voice recognition systems.  J.D. Power questions over 33,000 owners of 2016 model year vehicles about their three-year ownership experience.  They tracked more than 1,700 specific problems in eight major categories.

The survey has found that Lexus was the most dependable brand for the eighth straight year but other brands that made the top five include Porsche and Toyota which tied for second, followed by Chevrolet and Buick.

Overall, The survey found an industry average of 136 problems per 100 vehicles, that is a slight improvement over last year.

The worst performers were Fiat, Land Rover, Volvo, Dodge and a tie between Ram and Acura.

Among the most improved brands this year;  Chrysler, Mini and Subaru.
