Lightfoot responds to being mocked with Nazis

By Bill Cameron, WLS-AM News

(CHICAGO)  Bill Cameron has Lori Lightfoot’s reaction to a Toni Preckwinkle aide – now fired – invoking the Nazis against her.

Preckwinkle apologized and Lightfoot is accepting the apology – kind of.

“Ya know, an apology in some ways is irrelevant. Yes, I saw that she apologized via twitter, which I guess is a way that some people communicate. Today, I’m old school. I think you pick up the phone and talk to people. But, look, the larger issue is, she’s asking voters to trust her. She’s asking voters to make her the leader of our city for the future.  And what we’ve seen over the arc of this campaign – and probably more unfortunately – is stumble after stumble after stumble. The only time she seems to find her way to do the right thing is when she’s caught and cornered. That’s not leadership.”

Election day is Tuesday.
