Harvey P.D. raided in corruption probe

The feds raided the Harvey Police Department this morning as part of a corruption probe that includes the alleged extorting of a strip club owner and falsifying reports. The U.S. Attorney’s office in Chicago tells the Tribune that a total of six people have been charged in three separate ongoing corruption schemes.

The FBI rolled up at 7 a.m., according to a statement from Mayor Eric J. Kellogg.

Harvey is a city rife with issues. Less than five years ago, the Tribune documented life in the “lawless” suburb, noting “since the 1980s, the suburb of 25,000 residents has struggled with crime, corruption and decay.”
