Boeing To Stop Delivering 737 Max Jets But Keep Building Them

Airlines around the globe are grounding the Boeing 737 Max 8 in the wake of Sunday’s deadly Ethiopian Airlines crash. But Boeing is still building 737 Max jets and will continue to do so.

The company announced Thursday it would stop delivering the planes to airlines while it investigates the cause of two recent high-profile crashes. But manufacturing in the company’s Renton, Washington facility will continue.

The 737 max is Boeing’s best-selling jet and the company makes about 52 of them a month. Stopping production would impact many of the company’s 70,000 employees in the state of Washington.

371 of the planes remain grounded indefinitely pending the investigation.
