Now that California has declared a moratorium on executions, Sen. Kamala Harris thinks the rest of the U.S. should follow suit.
In a radio interview, Harris called for a ‘federal equivalent’ to CA Gov. Gavin Newsom’s order to suspend all death row executions in the state.
Harris did not always oppose the death penalty during her time as California’s attorney general. But this week she called it “a gross misuse of taxpayers dollars” as well as “immoral” and
discriminatory”, pointing out poor and minority convicts were more likely to face execution than white or wealthy defendants.
