It has taken New Zealand just six days to ban so called “assault rifles” following the deadly massacres at two mosques.

How did the country accomplish that in less than one week?

The New York Times reports, unlike in the United States, gun ownership in New Zealand is not a right. It is a privilege allowed by the government.

New Zealand has enacted a forced buy-back program.
