Former NFL Ref Speaks

With rare exception, league rules prevent NFL referees from talking to the media – that’s no longer the case for newly retired official Walt Coleman.

The 67-year-old ended his 30-year career at the Pro Bowl in January and now he’s opening up on everything from full-time refs and additional officials to expanded replay and even personal faults and concerns.

Coleman told the Bleacher Report that it took him some time to come to grips with missed calls (robbing Jerry Rice of a record breaking touchdown) and even hate mail and threats (remember the tuck rule? That was the last Raiders game Coleman ever officiated).
