In the race for mayor, Bill Cameron says Toni Preckwinkle refuses to repudiate racially-charged remarks by Congressman Bobby Rush at her big political rally on Saturday.
Bobby Rush told the rally, “everyone who votes for Lori (Lightfoot), the blood of the next young black man or black woman who is killed by the police is on your hands.”
Preckwinkle is defending Rush.
“Congressman Rush expressed his own views. He expressed concerns on behalf of the Latin and African-American communities about police-community interactions and those concerns are ones that I share. My opponent has not been willing to address those concerns.”
Someone who is not defending Rush is Amara Enyia, who came in 7th in round one, but she announced she’s not endorsing either candidate for mayor.
