When it comes to putting money where their mouth is, supporters are giving to Bernie Sanders at a rate far exceeding the other Democrats bidding for the White House next year.

According to CNN , the independent Vermont Senator has pulled in $18.2 million in his 41 days of campaigning from about 525,000 donors.

While currently leading the 2020 field with his fundraising efforts, Sanders still falls behind the pace of previous contenders from the party.

During the 2008 race, both Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama raised more than $25 million by the first quarter.
