French firefighters are working to control a massive blaze at the famed Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris.
Images and video circulating social media Monday afternoon show smoke and flames consuming a part of the structure’s roof.
It isn’t clear what started the fire which has spread across the 850-year-old church; however, BBC reports, it could be connected to renovation work.
Last year, the Church urgently appealed for support to help save the historic cathedral which was starting to crumble.
