(CHICAGO) — Two Chicago Police Officers are being praised for their quick thinking when they helped deliver a baby outside of the 3rd District Police Station Easter Morning.

Johnny Stokes was rushing his daughter to Comer Children’s hospital when baby Ava just couldn’t wait.

“He informed me that his daughter was having labor in the front seat of his SUV,” Officer Sean Hamil tells the Mancow Show on WLS. “So I radioed for an ambulance and then my partner came out and assisted me in the delivery of this sweet baby Ava and I pulled out some gloves and the baby just slipped right out into my hands.”

Mother and baby were taken to the hospital in good condition. Now a proud grandpa, Stokes has bestowed the honorary title of uncle on Hamil and his partner Officer Lawrence Nickerson.
