Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota would like to see marijuana legalized nationwide and criminal records pertaining to the drug to be expunged.

“Cannabis criminalization disproportionately impacts communities of color,” Rep. Omar tweeted. “We must finally legalize cannabis nationwide and expunge records for those incarcerated for cannabis-related offenses.”

Even though marijuana is used by the same percentage of white people as people of color, black people are four times more likely to be arrested for marijuana use.

U.S. Attorney General is still against legalizing marijuana saying, “Personally, I would still favor one uniform federal rule against marijuana.”
