The FDA has approved a new medical patch designed to treat ADHD in children without the use of drugs.

The device is called the Monarch external Trigeminal Nerve Stimulation System, or eTNS System for short. It’s a small adhesive patch that delivers a low-level electrical pulse the child’s brain while they sleep.

The makers say the patch is designed for children ages 7 to 12, but could also potentially be used to treat brain trauma in veterans.

An starter kit costs $1,000 and is currently not covered by insurance.
