Canada is moving to ban all single-use plastic items by the year 2021.

On Monday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced plans to ban items like plastic forks, takeout containers, and other single-use items. The proposal would also make manufacturers responsible for the collecting and recycling their products.

Trudeau says the government is still working out the details of the plan with an eye towards implementing it by 2021.
