In a bold move for both parties, the Cleveland Cavaliers have hired UC-Berkeley women’s coach Lindsay Gottlieb as an assistant coach.
Gottlieb, the first women’s collegiate head coach recruited by an NBA team, leaves a program that she has lead to seven NCAA tournaments and a Final Four appearance, and a salary believed to be in the $700,000 range, ESPN reports.
Cav’s coach John Beilein aggressively recruited the 41-year-old coach after getting to know her.
Gottlieb compiled a 179-89 record at Cal and has coached USA national teams.
