Black Family Accused Of Stealing $12 Basketball They Paid For

A black family feels they were profiled while shopping. Joel Stallworth and TaMiya Dickerson were at the Nike store in Santa Monica, California. They purchased a $12 basketball after their son started playing with it.

As the family left the store, the manager, who happens to be a white woman, went after them. When the family said the basketball was paid for, the manager called the police over.

Stallworth and Dickerson showed the receipt of purchase to the manager and officer. The incident was caught on Facebook video. Once everything was settled, the family returned the ball for a refund.

In a statement, Nike said, “We are taking the recent situation at our Santa Monica store very seriously, and we are currently investigating the facts. We will continue to work with our teams to ensure we deliver on our expectations for consumer experiences.”
