LGBTQ history is going to be taught in schools across Illinois thanks to a newly signed bill.

House Bill 246 amends the school code in an effort to add a more inclusive history curriculum.

LGBTQ civil rights advocacy organization, Equality Illinois, said the curriculum can have a “positive effect on students’ self-image and make their peers more accepting.”
