More news is emerging on how Jeffery Epstein was able to commit suicide last week while being held in a Manhattan federal jail, including that the guards fell asleep on the job, reports the New York Times .

Thanks to surveillance video, those tasked with looking after the accused sex trafficker were found to have not checked up on him, then falsified records to show they had.

Two of the guards at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, one of whom was a former correctional officer forced to work overtime, have been placed on administrative leave, while the jail’s warden will be reassigned.

According to the Times , “Such false entries in an official log could constitute a federal crime.”
