IRS May Revoke Passports For Americans Who Owe Back Taxes

Owe money to the IRS? It might end up costing you your passport.

Last year, the IRS was given the authority to revoke or deny passports for anyone who owes more than $52,000 in back taxes.

Now the agency says it’s stepping up its enforcement and will be reviewing unresolved cases for “potential revocation”. The IRS estimates about 400,000 people are at risk of losing their passports.
