Joe Biden has often brought up his friendship with former President Barack Obama on the campaign trail. But a new report claims Obama tried to convince his former VP *notto run in 2020.

According to the New York Times , before Biden announced his run Obama told him “You don’t have to do this, Joe, you really don’t”. Obama was also reportedly concerned the 76-year-old Biden would “embarrass himself”

Biden, however, told Obama that “he could never forgive himself if he turned down a second shot at Mr. Trump”.

Biden has consistently led in Democratic polls but last week found himself in a virtual tie with Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
