WWII Veteran Celebrates 110th Birthday

Lawrence Brooks may very well be the nation’s oldest living World War II veteran at 110 years old and a birthday celebration was held at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans.

Brooks was born September 12, 1909 and served with the mostly African American 91st Engineer Battalion stationed in New Guinea and later the Philippines.

During the war he attained the rank of Private 1st Class and museum President and CEO Stephen Watson said Brooks is the nation’s oldest living WWII veteran.
