Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis and his wife Jill just donated the largest gift to the University of Maryland Children’s Hospital by a Baltimore athlete. The Davis family donated $3 million which the hospital will use to expand their pediatric congenital heart disease operating room.

The Davis Family’s familiar with the hospital; their daughter was born with a hole in her heart and spent a week in the neonatal ICU before being given a clear bill of health before her first birthday.

Davis has been humble about his donation simply saying that as a dad he would do anything for his children. “Baseball is going to stop someday. I am going to be a dad for as long as I live.”
